Shop Talk

While many of us tend to be DIY’ers and work on our own cars, often it’s just better to let a pro handle it.

In order to better serve the local E38 community, this is going to be a list of independent BMW specialists and other shops that can help you out. If you have had good or bad luck with any shop in your area from Pennsylvania to Virginia, post that info here. Hopefully this will end up being a great resource for local owners. If you have a shop and want to let people know about it, post here, as well.

  1. I know you asked for Indy’s w/i Pa to Va, however, should there be a time where any of you happen to be traveling through/near Long Island NY, my Indy moved his business from Delran, NJ to Valley Stream, NY. I discovered him via after I became the fortunate owner of my Biaritz-Blue 1997 740i in 2006…and yes, when my E38 needs indy work, I take that drive! He specialise in foreign cars, is honest, takes pride in his work and his prices are very reasonable! Here’s the info: “Sam” (owner), American Auto, 360 N. Central Ave, Valley Stream, NY 11580, Phn# 516.792.3062 (Tell him “Marie w/the Blue BMW” referred you to him.)

  2. I use Forest Hill Auto in Red Lion, PA. The staff is BMW dealership trained and friendly. I like the fact that they do not fuss about insurance liability and will let you walk under the car whilst on the lift to point out issues and stuff. I also like that whenever I have my car in there I tend to hover about it while Brian, the tech, is working on it pestering him with questions and he doesn’t seem to mind 🙂
